Renumele s\u0103u literar s-a consolidat mai ales datorit\u0103 florilegiului de poeme scrise \u00een limba toscan\u0103 \u0219i dedicate iubirii sale eterne, Laura de Noves, reunite \u00een celebra culegere cunoscut\u0103 sub numele de <em>Can\u021bonierul<\/em>. Prin activitatea sa, Petrarca se remarc\u0103 at\u00e2t ca savant umanist, c\u00e2t \u0219i ca deschiz\u0103tor de drumuri \u00een poezia liric\u0103 modern\u0103. Cele 317 sonete dedicate Laurei exprim\u0103 un sentiment de iubire idealizat\u0103, dar \u0219i profund uman\u0103. Petrarca este printre primii poe\u021bi care introduc natura nu doar ca decor, ci ca element viu, insufle\u021bit de tr\u0103irile interioare ale eului liric. Cule-gerea <em>Rime<\/em>, o adev\u0103rat\u0103 capodoper\u0103 a liricii, a fost imitat\u0103 timp de secole \u00een toate \u021b\u0103rile occidentale.
